Botanica Trading
Founded in 2015 by Debby Tenquist, Botanica Trading is a textile studio drawing on a lifetime spent inside decorative arts — botanical illustration, Mughal and Ottoman pattern, and the broader visual languages of the Near, Middle and Far East. The collection turns that research into hand-finished prints on natural linen: a working library of florals, ikats, suzanis and decorative motifs with the quiet authority of a well-collected interior.
Debby Tenquist's design vocabulary is built on serious study. She trained at the Victoria & Albert Museum and the British Museum in London, covering garden design, architecture and decorative arts across Europe, the Middle East and America, and later studied the history of Japanese and Korean design. Twelve years at Sotheby's in South Africa and Australia followed, specialising in Oriental and European decorative arts.
The principles of good proportion, the language of colour, and a deep familiarity with historical pattern all run through the Botanica Trading collection — translated into prints that feel collected rather than designed for trend.
Selected Botanica Trading designs are available as wallpaper — useful when continuing a print across walls, upholstery and soft furnishings within a single scheme. View the Botanica Trading wallpaper collection.
Botanica Trading is available in Australia exclusively through MOTIVO. The collection is well-suited to projects where the textile is doing visible design work — anchoring a room, layering across a scheme, or quoting a historical reference with confidence.
Samples, full design specifications and trade pricing are available on request.
All patterns below are available on an oyster linen and on a natural linen
