Sarah Hardaker
A British fabric and wallpaper designer working in the classical tradition — chinoiserie, toile, English florals and French country prints — translated to natural linen and printed in the UK. Sarah's collection draws on twenty years running her eponymous studio and nearly a decade before that designing for some of the most respected names in British interiors, producing a range with the unmistakable confidence of a designer who knows how patterns live in a real room.
Sarah studied embroidery at Manchester Polytechnic and was spotted at her graduation show by Antony Little, founder of the prestigious British fabric house Osborne & Little, where she worked for nearly ten years. She went on to design for Nina Campbell, Habitat and Harlequin before launching her own studio in 2006, putting two decades inside Britain's leading fabric houses into practice.
Her work draws on family travels through English country landscapes — the big skies and meadows of the north Norfolk coast around Wiveton, Blakeney and Holkham — alongside the painted shutters and harbour palettes of French villages. The result is a collection in chalky, country-considered colour: timeless, slightly faded, made to live in.
Sarah Hardaker fabrics are printed onto natural linen — most patterns available on fine oyster linen — using both traditional hand-printing and modern digital printing methods. Linen is woven in Scotland, designs are printed in England, in line with Sarah's commitment to small UK family-owned manufacturing. Digital printing methods are used in part for environmental reasons — virtually no water waste, and significantly reduced energy use compared to traditional methods.
Suitable for curtaining, upholstery, cushions, headboards, lampshades, wallcoverings and soft furnishings across residential, commercial and hospitality interiors.
Because all Sarah Hardaker fabrics and wallpapers are printed to order, custom colour matching is available — designers can supply a paint chip or palette reference, and the design will be coloured to match. Useful when a specific scheme requires a fabric to sit alongside an existing wall colour, a heritage paint, or a curated palette.
Lead times for production runs are approximately three weeks.
