Ferran Textiles
A New York-based hand-painted textile and wallpaper studio by Kathryn Ferran Kayajan — and one of the few collections whose patterns are designed travel-collection by travel-collection. Every Ferran design starts as a hand-painted work in Kayajan's signature style, then is printed on 100% linen and cotton in named collections that read like an atlas of where she's been: Mallorca, Savanna, Maasai Madras, Acacia, Equus, Gazania. The result is a coherent, relaxed-but-classic collection with the unmistakable sensibility of an architect-trained designer.
Kayajan trained as an architect — studying at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts (SMFA) Boston and at Parsons School of Design in New York, then working professionally at Gensler, one of the world's most prestigious architecture and design firms. She launched Ferran as an accessories company in 2000, consulting alongside it for Lilly Pulitzer on accessories — an experience that taught her pattern-making and surface design.
Ferran Textiles launched in 2003. Its first print was published in Vogue Magazine, and the studio's work has since been featured in Architectural Digest, Elle, Country Living and Traditional Home. Twenty-two years on, Kayajan still hand-paints every new design in her signature style, and structures the collection around her travels — getting to know a place, its history, its culture and its people before working it into pattern.
Ferran designs are printed on 100% linen and cotton — fine, natural base cloths suited to professional specification. Suitable for curtaining, upholstery, cushions, headboards, lampshades and soft furnishings across residential, commercial and hospitality interiors.
Ferran Textiles is available in Australia exclusively through MOTIVO. Because the collection is hand-painted and produced in considered runs, lead times reflect the making — we're happy to advise on timelines and quantities for specific projects.
Samples, full design specifications and trade pricing are available on request.
